19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts
A comeback Medvedev secured his first title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.
Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after spring of the previous year.
Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 titles at 21 distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
His counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was concluded.
Yet the player has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced service.
Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the last five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.
Moutet saved 4 early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
